About us
A family run resort on the Sapphire Coast that has been hosting groups on its lawns for years, now opened up properly to schools.
Who we are
Villa Spa Camps is the schools and youth programme of Villa Spa Holiday Resort in Illovo Beach, KwaZulu-Natal. The resort sits on five acres of maintained lawns and established trees where birdlife thrives, a short walk from the beach, and it has been a family owned and operated holiday site for many years.
Camps use the same site, the same kitchen and the same grounds team that look after holiday guests. What changes for a camp is the structure: tents are pitched and equipped before you arrive, meals run to fixed times, and a camp host and an events host work alongside the teachers for the whole stay.

How supervision works
We are clear about this because schools ask, and because it matters. Villa Spa provides the site, the meals, the equipment, a camp host and an events host. Monitoring and supervision of the learners remains the responsibility of the school throughout the camp.
We ask for two teachers to accompany every 25 children, with the genders of the accompanying teachers representing the genders of the group. For groups of 50 children or more we bring in a dedicated camp master and a host manager for the duration.
Every camp requires a signed indemnity form from the parent or guardian of each child, and from the school management representative for the group. We send the forms with your quote so they can go out with the consent letters.
The resort is fenced, staffed and has security on site. Access to the camping area during a school camp is controlled, and the site is not shared with holiday guests during a booked school week where the booking covers the camping lawns.
